This is a loaded question but a good one. Many think of having his or her small business or working from home as an alternative to needing to arise day in and day out to drive a car and be employed by someone else.
Actually, I know my response given that I asked myself all the same questions I will ask you below. It is really imperative that you are honest in answering each question because your answers will show you if you need to make that bold shift and hop into a home-based business or not.
The primary reason why a Home-Based Business is pondered upon would be the desire for extra revenue streams, however your purposes might be specific and these questions might bring them out as well.
Consider these thoughts before making any step in the direction of your own Home-Based Business:
- Are you certainly comfortable and really enjoy the work you are doing at this time?
- Do you think there isn’t enough time in your workday to complete what YOU want to get done? (this just isn’t the same as what’s required of you to accomplish)
- Do you realize you are hoping for morning to arrive so you can get into gear and start working?
- Do you believe 8 hours each day is adequate time spent on the job and do you enjoy spending the remainder of your hours relaxing on the sofa or doing the stuff you want to do?
- Does your supervisor, enterprise or chairman have just as much loyalty to you as you have for them?
- Is your income adequate or more than enough to meet your present needs and wants?
- Are you setting a good example in work practices and living a life that motivates your children? (that’s supposing you’ve got a family)
- How many years do you see yourself in your current job? Could you see the rest of your working career being spent here?
- Are you comfortable requesting and obtaining permission to take time away from work so that you can attend to important family events or simply to tackle the needs of your partner and children? (Examples of this include appointments with the physician, a best friend’s wedding or the dance recital your 12 year old, etc.)
- Are you putting things off into the long term simply because you just don’t have the time to break away or there just isn’t good enough money to buy you that long-deserved getaway?
- Are you OK with your wage increases being swallowed up by additional taxation?
- Are you certain that your long-term savings will be enough for you to retire on?
In case you answered “No” or ” Not Really” to any, a few or the majority of the above questions, then you might be ready to think about getting into your own Home-Based Business. My guess is that you responded with a lot of “No’s” and found two or three of the questions painfully banging on.
But starting your own home-based business is never a fairly easy job they claim. So, where does one go from here? Where do you start?
My advice to you is to acquire a feel of the whole thing first. If you’re currently employed, don’t abandon your job right away to build your own home-based business. Test the waters, so you have no regrets later on.
